One of my go-to outfits when I don’t want to spend a lot of time thinking about what to wear ((aka all the time)) is simply wearing a Canadian tuxedo. There are so many cute ways to wear denim on denim that are all so personal for whoever’s wearing it, so today I thought I would share my favorite way to do double denim along with a few of my tips!
My favorite way to wear double denim is by breaking it up with another shirt. Of course, you could wear the classic style of simply tucking a buttoned-up chambray into jeans, but this is my favorite way because it feels a little bit more me and it’s so customizable.
my tips & tricks for double denim
1.) wear two tones of denim. I think this tip is generally universal, but it’s still my biggest advice. I love pairing my light denim chambray shirt with darker jeans because it makes it feel more casual. It also fends off the feeling of wearing a 90s all-denim ensemble ((I’ll leave all that denim to Britney & Justin, thank ya very much))
2.) add a graphic t-shirt. This is where it gets fun! I love adding striped shirts to everything, so obviously that would look cute here, but today I wanted to change it up a little bit. I love this graphic tee with the cutest little Vespa on it and I love how simple it is. I am definitely guilty of going through that phase in middle school where I bought way too many graphic shirts covered in peace signs & smiley faces, but I never wore them! So now I’m much more mindful of what is only a trend & what I actually love. Of course, it doesn’t hurt that this shirt was less than $10…
3.) This is a bit of a “bonus” tip, because it’s definitely not something I do every time, but I really love wearing my high-waisted jeans. These jeans are my favorite because they’re so flattering, and I think they do a great job of further “breaking up” the denim.
This has become one of my go-to outfits recently, and I hope you love it too! It’s especially perfect for the in-between weather we’re about to have (hello Spring!)
