Happy Thursday! Today I’m going to share a few of my layering tips for jewelry & clothing… Layering is perfect for adding your personal style to an outfit, but it’s also great for the in-between weather we’ve been having ((okay, the in-between weather Alabama is always having…) because you can easily add a layer for when it’s chillier!
First things first… the overall outfit. For this simple look, I just grabbed a few of my most-worn items: my favorite jeans, the comfiest ankle boots, a cute striped shirt & my go to jacket. These are all pieces I love to wear normally so they were perfect for this post! Now I’m going to share a few of my tips that I keep in mind when I’m layering my clothing – of course these are just little ideas that will hopefully show you how to make the most of your clothing!
1. cuff your sleeves when you layer jackets: I am always cuffing my sleeves because the sleeves are too long for me anyway, so this is just something I do out of habit at this point ((#shortpeopleproblems…? or just short arm problems?)) But I really like to do this when I’ve added a jacket or extra shirt just because this structures the outfit and makes it more flattering.
2. play around with patterns & colors: Okay, you can take this with a grain of salt because I for sure do. So many monochrome outfits are just layers of different shades of the same color & they look so good. But for this outfit, I thought it’d be fun to wear different patterns and colors that I don’t always pair together.
3. layer your jewelry too: I love little dainty necklaces ((and I may or may not own way too many at this point)) and I think layering them creates such a fun statement. You could stick to shapes like I did here, or you could layer a monogram with a pendant. The options are endless, which is what makes it fun!
I hope you enjoyed this simple post! I honestly just looked in my closet and realized that I am always layering so i thought it’d be fun to share some of my tips.
xoxo, Cecilia
ps… I’m sharing a few (already) layered necklace sets below because anything that makes getting ready in the morning easier is a good thing in my opinion.
