I am officially on summer break, and I am loving it! I have a month before I start my job, so I’m just relaxing with friends. I’m so excited for everything summer:
- relaxing at the pool with my girls as long as possible
- sleeping in late (just because I can!)
- working on blog posts at Starbucks… without thinking of homework
- farmer’s markets ((hello, Pepper Place!))
- concerts and (free) festivals
- this outfit, on repeat.
One of my favorite parts of summer is the fashion. It gets hot and humid here in Alabama, so finding clothes that are comfortable and cool is so necessary. Of course, I also want them to be cute enough for those group pics with my friends! Enter this… my favorite summer outfit.
My go-to item in the summer is any pair of fabric shorts. They’re light enough to stay cool even in the heat, but they dress up any outfit! I have quite a few pairs, but if you don’t own any yet, I would recommend two styles: a black & white pair and a colorful pair. Black & white shorts are so easy to style – throw on any top and you’re good to go! But, I’ve also found that I love styling the more colorful shorts.
I picked up these shorts from Lotus Boutiques a few years ago (I’ll link a few others I’m loving below) and I’m still obsessed with them. The color combination is unique but perfect for summer. Plus, they have pockets… Aka a plus to any clothing ever.
Confession about this top… I actually picked it up in Target’s pajama section! I loved the straps and the bright color, and of course it was on sale. It is the perfect top to wear with a bralette and jeans for a simple, chic look. ((Moral of the story: always check out Target’s pajamas for potentially cute tops)).
I kept my accessories simple so the shorts would shine through. Of course, the sunglasses are necessary! I wore my favorite wedges and my go-to watch… these little accessories that make me feel so put-together.
