I have to admit I own way too many black dresses. They are always my go-to, because you can style them in so many different ways! Now that the weather is warming up, I’m going to rely on breezy pieces to keep cool – fabric shorts and sundresses. I picked up this black sundress from Target years ago, and I was immediately obsessed. I was never a fan of dresses and I never understood when people said dresses were more comfortable than pants… until this dress! This dress is everything a summer dress should be: easy, light, and airy… and so easy to style! To show just how easy it is to style, I’m sharing two different ways I would style this dress depending on the occasion.
The Dressier Look
This look could not be any easier. I wear this green jacket all the time and I love that the structure dresses up the look. I also wore my favorite (comfy!) wedges. To dress up the look more (aka I would have done this but it slipped my mind… oops) I would add more jewelry and possibly change my hair up… How cute would this be with a top knot?!
This is the kind of outfit I would throw together if I was running late to Church. It was also a look I wore all the time to chapter when I didn’t want to think about what to wear! Of course, it could not be easier to recreate. Add a jacket and your favorite pair of heels, and you’re done.
The Casual Look
This is another look that could not be easier to style. All you have to do is throw on a denim chambray and your favorite sandals! (Are you sensing a theme?! I’m a big fan of outfits you just have to throw on.) Denim chambray shirts are one of my favorite pieces to have. They’re perfect over leggings in the fall, layered under sweaters in the winter, and for that awkward spring-to-summer transition – they’re a necessity. I’m one of those people who feels chilly so easily but I don’t want to wear a cardigan in the summer. Denim chambray shirts are light enough to still be comfortable but they warm me up if I need to! They also add a casual element to the overall look. (PS… you can’t see my shoes but they’re just my favorite sandals!)
This outfit would be good for those occasions when you aren’t too sure what to wear. I would feel comfortable wearing this to Church or dinner with my friends. It would also be perfect for a day at Pepper Place Market. It’s cool enough that you won’t sweat… Plus if it gets even hotter, you can tie the chambray around your waist!
Thank you so much for stopping by! Have a great weekend!
xoxo, Cecilia
