I’m definitely a rule-follower by heart, but there are a few rules I love to break! I don’t save Christmas music for after Thanksgiving. I read spoilers about my favorite t-shows – but I’m working on this one! And I wear white after Labor Day. I think “fashion rules” have their place as suggested guidelines, but I also think it’s fun to break the rules… So today I’m sharing this look with white jeans + tips on styling white after Labor Day!
The outfit I’m wearing in this post is definitely more summery than fall-appropriate… So do as I say, not as I do? The weather in Alabama has been so hot that I’ve been able to continue wearing summer trends (sandals, one-shoulder tops, blue and white stripes) but today I want to share tips for styling white for fall!
1. Add warm colors and neutrals.
Think olive green, rust orange, camel… aka some of my favorite colors! When I think of summer colors, I normally envision bright, cool tones. So, one of the best ways to transition a bright white from summer to fall is to add warmer colors. Pair your white jeans with a tan sweater and brown leather boots, with green and red accessories and you’ll be golden.
2. Wear seasonal shoes.
In my opinion, shoes make a world of difference in the overall feel of an outfit! Even this outfit would feel so different with ankle boots instead of sandals.
3. Choose one white piece.
This is a bit of a “rule” within my tips for “breaking the rules”… But, like with all fashion, you should just wear what makes you comfortable and confident! I prefer to keep to only one white piece an outfit in the fall, whether it’s my jeans or my top. I love the look of all white, but I always view it as more summery. Of course, there are definitely exceptions to this rule… I always see such beautiful looks on Pinterest of city girls wearing all white with a pop of red or black and it’s so stylish!
4. Accessorize, accessorize, accessorize.
I love accessories. I own more necklaces than I actually wear, but I’m just always drawn to jewelry and fun accessories in stores! Some of my favorite accessories for fall that would make white jeans feel totally season appropriate are: hats, cardigans, and scarves. Pair a floppy hat with a cozy cardigan and blanket scarf and your white jeans, and you have the PERFECT fall outfit… Well, maybe not as perfect as leggings and a sweatshirt.
So, what are your favorite fashion rules to break? Let me know in the comments!

I am HERE for the white after labor day trend I’ve been seeing. Love how you talked about pairing it with more fall-ish items. I definitely need to try this. 🙂
Thank you so much! Hopefully it actually starts cooling down enough to wear fall items soon!
