Last week was my spring break (aka one of the best weeks of the year) so today I’m sharing some details from my weekend in Birmingham! I love reading what people did on the weekend (am I just that nosy or does anyone else like that?!) so today I’ll share everything from what I ate to what I wore. For the second half of my break I came home to Birmingham to see my family & friends. Birmingham is my hometown and one of my favorite cities to explore, especially on lazy weekdays.
friday
gotta love unintentionally matching the wall
On Friday one of my best friends (and overall favorite people), Michelle, and I explored Homewood! First we grabbed lunch at Real & Rosemary… one of the most Instagrammable places I’ve ever been. I ordered sweet potato wedges & zucchini noodles. The zucchini had a great flavor, but honestly I don’t know that I’ll order the sweet potato wedges again… I think I’ll have to go for the mac and cheese like Michelle did!
This was a drizzly, gray Friday, but surprisingly it wasn’t too cold. I broke out one of my favorite tanks – an olive green mock neck – and kept it simple with my favorite jeans. Of course I brought a cardigan with me because I’m always freezing! I love this outfit for casual weekends with friends, because if you’re anything like me, some of your friends will dress insanely cute while the others will dress it down. This outfit is a good blend of cute and casual – perfect for mini photoshoots.
saturday
If you know me at all, you’ll know that I love tacos. Like I’m obsessed. So on Saturday when my parents asked where I wanted to eat, I requested Tacos & Tequila. I order the same tacos every time – the chicken and the vegetarian – and I always want more!
Honestly, for lunch with my family I normally dress it way down with Nike shorts and a comfortable tee. This weekend I decided to actually attempt to wear something just slightly nicer which I find so refreshing. I find that even if all I’ve done is wear jeans instead of leggings, I feel more put together. Anyone else?!
sunday
are you sensing a trend? I’m a bit obsessed with sweet potato fries…
I am such a fan of Sundays. Church in the morning, lunch with my family, then (usually) a productive few hours at Starbucks? My dream day. This Sunday my family went to one of our usual places – Front Porch. If you go, I have one recommendation: get the sweet potato fries. I crave them constantly, so I’m glad my family goes when I’m in town! They are honestly like a dessert – drizzled in caramel and sprinkled with sea salt. I just had them, and I already want more.
For lunch I wanted to throw on an outfit that I hadn’t worn yet that weekend… which is a bit hard for a major outfit repeater like me! I did end up wearing something I’ve worn before (multiple times), but it’s been a few months so it doesn’t count right? I love fabric shorts for this transitional season, and I added a denim chambray to the outfit because I’m always cold in restaurants. Overall, this is one of my favorite outfits for casual weekends.
I hope you enjoyed this post! It was a bit different than my normal posts, but I love reading posts like these and it was so fun to write. Plus, if you ever find yourself in Birmingham hopefully this post gives you an idea of a few places to try out!

I’ve only ever been to the airport in Birmingham but I would love to explore it more, I’m totally bookmarking that Taco place! Also I definitely relate to feeling more put together when I wear jeans, haha, I don’t know what it is!
