Styling a Baseball Hat Two Ways

Today I’m talking about one of my personal favorite accessories: baseball hats. Styling a baseball hat is the perfect way to hide a bad hair day – we’ve all been there! It’s so easy to throw on a baseball hat, but I still want my outfit to look put together. I follow a few tricks whenever I wear a hat, so I’ll share those today + I’ll show two ways I styled my favorite baseball hat!

My Go-To Tips 

1. Go for a solid color baseball hat.

When people think of baseball hats, they normally think of hats with their team logos or their favorite cities on them. While these hats are super fun, I find that they’re harder to style in my daily life. Choosing a hat that’s a solid color is an easy alternative. Plus, it looks like more of an intentional style choice… rather than a last-minute attempt to cover dirty hair!

2. Keep other accessories simple.

I like to look at my hat as the main accessory for an outfit. Because it’s my main accessory, I don’t want to overshadow it with statement earrings or a huge necklace. I keep my jewelry simple, so it’s clear that the hat is the star of my outfit.

Outfit #1

Baseball hat + favorite graphic tee + comfortable jeans + long necklace 

When I was shooting this outfit with my mom, I literally said to her, “This is the most me outfit ever!” And, other than the lack of stripes, it’s so true. I find that my favorite outfits aren’t about individual pieces; instead, I’m drawn to layers of different elements.

This outfit is the perfect example of that! I love the combination of this graphic tee with the different accessories. I chose a long, simple necklace that wouldn’t take away from the shirt while still adding a fun texture.

Outfit #2

Baseball hat + cute, simple top + sandals 

Since buying this shirt (on super sale for less than $5 right now!), I’ve worn it at least twice a week.  It’s so cute with jeans in this outfit, but it’s also simple enough that I pair it with Nike shorts for a casual day-to-day look. Aka it’s the perfect shirt… and you need it.

I love the combination of this light pink with the olive green. One of the fun things with solid color baseball hats is pairing them with different colors and creating combos you may not have thought of. Of course, we all know olive green is a neutral, so I think it’s a great place to start if you aren’t sure of what you’d wear with it.
