Everyone has a favorite season, and for me, autumn is where I thrive. Warm coffee, acoustic music, rainy days snuggled up in my bed? Yeah, that sounds like a dream to me! But, I love summer fashion. What could be easier than jean shorts and cute tanks every day? Dressing for fall in Alabama is more than a little difficult, with weather that switches from me shivering to sweating. It may be fall on the calendar, but you won’t see me in a sweater any time soon! Today I’ll share the perfect end of summer look that you can slowly transition into fall wear. It’s cool enough that you won’t be sweating, but the colors are muted enough that they feel totally fall appropriate.
One of my favorite ways to spend time with friends is grabbing coffee (iced vanilla latte, of course) and catching up! One of my best friends, LB, lives in Birmingham where she’s killing it as a teacher. Last time I visited home, we got to spend plenty of time drinking coffee and chatting! She took these pictures at Church Street Coffee in Mountain Brook. We had so much fun walking around and taking photos anywhere we saw that looked slightly Instagrammable… like that green ivy wall? Right next to a bank!
This outfit was the perfect look for that end of summer weather and beginning of fall fashion. As much as I’m a fan of my go-to solid colored tops, I loooove unique, patterned tops. They stand out without any accessories, and they are so easy to transition from summer to fall. I thought this pattern in particular was a great transition. It’s got plenty of color, but they’re perfect for fall.
It’ll be so easy to wear this top when it gets chillier too. Switch out the jean shorts for skinny jeans, wear my favorite ankle boots, and maybe throw on a cardigan if it’s chillier. If you’re in a similar weather situation, I definitely recommend picking up a fun lil patterned top like this one!

Love this for early fall! My arms tend to get cold more easily so the longer sleeves are perfect for me 🙂
Me too! I love to always have a cardigan with me because it gets so chilly inside. Thank you for reading Caitlin!
I would hate not being able to wear sweaters for fall! But this is a cute transitional outfit!
I know! In Alabama I feel like we go from short sleeves to needing jackets immediately – no time for cute fall looks haha! Thanks so much for reading Katie!
I love the front tie trend and these are both great pieces for transitioning into fall (although in Florida fall doesn’t really exist!). Super cute!
