It’s time to chat about my favorite subject: coffee. Nothing makes me happier than spending a few hours at a sweet coffee shop. This year, one of my friends and I decided to visit every Auburn coffee shop so we could rank them all. Obviously, I took this task very seriously and actually made a spreadsheet to document each visit! Each Auburn coffee shop has a totally different vibe, and I always look forward to chill afternoons sipping a vanilla latte.
1. Sidetrack Coffee
Sidetrack Coffee is the most aesthetically pleasing coffee shop that exists, period. It’s in Opelika (about 20 minutes from Auburn) and is an open room with plenty of light. The drinks are amazing, and Sidetrack has the coolest concept of choosing what you pay. This means that someone who can’t afford it can pay what they can! I absolutely love coming here for a few hours after shooting photos in downtown Opelika.
2. Mama Mocha’s
Honestly, Mama Mocha’s might be my favorite Auburn coffee shop. Storytime: I went one time freshman year and it stressed me out SO much because it was so dark inside. And then… I didn’t go until late this year. They rearranged everything, and I am obsessed with it! My go-to drink is the bikini bombshell, which is a latte with caramel and coconut – I get it without cinnamon. This drink is incredibly refreshing and would be perfect for summer. Mama Mocha’s has plenty of seating, including cozy couches that are perfect to curl up in.
3. Coffee Cat
Do yourself a favor: go to Coffee Cat and get an iced coconut latte. The most refreshing drink ever! Coffee Cat is in downtown Auburn and is usually crazy busy. My sweet friend Kristen works there and it makes my day when she’s behind the counter. Coffee Cat is perfect if you’re looking for a sweet time with friends.
4. The Bean
The Bean is the perfect cozy coffee shop. When I walk in, I feel like I’m in a sweet old grandma’s house. This is where my bible study met sophomore year and it was the perfect place for it! Real talk: their coffee isn’t my absolute favorite BUT they have the best desserts ever, including amazing cinnamon rolls. I love going to The Bean on winter nights, ordering a hot chocolate, and getting some work done. Also, truly their decor is so sweet.
5. World Cup Coffee
This coffee shop is my secret weapon… but I’ve only been one time. This coffee shop isn’t well known, but its drinks are nice and light. The interior reminds me of a combination of The Bean and Coffee Cat with its multiple rooms and cozy chairs. I’m planning on hitting it up during finals week because it (hopefully) won’t be as crowded as everywhere else.
I hope that this post inspired you to check out a different Auburn coffee shop than your usual. When you read my blog posts, I hope that you feel like you’re sipping coffee with me at one of these coffee shops!
