When I started my blog, I wanted it to be a place that I knew others could look for a reminder that they weren’t facing struggles alone. This past spring while I was searching for an internship and majorly struggling, I read countless blog posts. Some of these posts had useful tips, other bloggers shared their dream internships, and a few just vaguely mentioned their college internships.
One thing I’ve realized throughout my blog is that if I’m struggling with something, chances are others are too. So, on my Instagram, I started to share honest updates about looking for an internship and the struggle. Today, I’m finally sharing an internship update about what I’ll be doing this summer! Later in the year I’ll share tips all about how I’ve gotten my internships that will hopefully help you land one too. For now, I just wanted to pop in and give an update and share where you can find me this summer!
First of all, on Mondays and Tuesdays, I’ll be working in the office at the Alabama Magazine. This is a print magazine that shares everything Alabama. So far, I’ve written pieces, copyedited, and fact-checked, plus I’ve done some admin tasks. I’m SO excited to have a byline in a print magazine.
I also jumped on the opportunity to work as a remote copywriting intern for a local copywriter! Copywriters basically write out what you read in marketing emails, business blogs, and more. This summer, I knew I wanted to stretch myself and gain as much experience as possible.
Finally, I’m going to contribute once a week to Bham Now! I. Am. So. Excited. Bham Now shares positive updates and fun guides having to do with everything Birmingham – aka I’m living my dream writing about the city that I love. You can read my first post here.
I’ll share my tips in a huge roundup later (trust me, I have a lot to say). But now, I wanted to share the biggest thing I’ve learned throughout this process. We have to trust that it’ll all work out. I truly believe that God has a plan for my life. In the beginning of summer, I spent a full week incredibly upset because it felt like nothing was working out. It turns out that week was just what I needed – because I landed two of these opportunities then. And now, I get to use that painful week as a chance to share how we can find the joy in our struggles!
Thank you for spending some time in your day with me and for always choosing to look at the sunny side with me!
