Today, we’re talking about something that both excites and terrifies me: the future! And of course, we’re chatting about fashion while we do it. I am no fashion expert, but I believe that every person should have what I like to call a power outfit. Whether it’s a two-piece suit or a floral dress, a power outfit makes you feel confident and like you can take on anything. I’ve talked about my outfit formula before, and my power outfit follows the same idea. Once you find something you feel good in, you can take on your day! I like to save my power outfit for days when I need a confidence boost—like when I’m giving a presentation or interviewing for a job.
I have always wanted to be the type of person to wear a blazer in a casual look. Business casual vibes are my absolute favorite. I basically want to look like I’m the cool new social media intern at a magazine in NYC… is that too much to ask?! Sometimes I feel silly wearing a blazer as I walk around campus, but at the end of the day, this outfit makes me feel confident.
If you’re like me & you’ve been wanting to test the blazer waters but you aren’t sure how to introduce “businesswear” into your everyday life, choose a casual, cozy blazer that gives off cardigan vibes. I love the combination of the unstructured blazer with jeans and a graphic tee.
I wore this outfit for a meeting in Birmingham last week, and it reminded me that I haven’t shared my postgrad plans on the blog yet! And that’s because I don’t really have any yet. I know that I want to move back to Birmingham and move into an apartment downtown with Greer. But beyond that, I’m not really sure what to expect.
I know that I want to work in a creative field that uses writing, either in editorial/media or in marketing/advertising. I know that I want to continue blogging and freelance copywriting. Other than that, I have to let go of my usual plan-everything-down-to-the-half-hour self and trust that it’ll all work out. And even if it doesn’t, at least I have an outfit that I’ll feel confident in.
