Wow, life has been crazy. I wasn’t sure how to approach blogging during this time—how do I talk about my favorite restaurants and outfits in the midst of this fear and uncertainty? After taking some time to feel everything, I decided to find joy as much as I can in a situation like this. For me, it helps to read and write blog posts that point to happy times in the past and remind me to keep looking forward! Today I’m rounding up my senior year spring break with some of my best friends. We went to Benton and then to Chattanooga, Tennessee. This was the best way to end our senior year – even though we didn’t know exactly how much of it was ending.
Chattanooga is SO much fun. We’ve all been to Nashville a few times and wanted to try something different. If you’re looking for somewhere to visit for a short trip (post-shelter-in-place!!), I highly recommend checking it out.
Where to Eat & Drink
Tupelo Honey Cafe: This place is super well-known, and on our first day we decided to stop here for happy hour drinks & early dinner. They had half-priced drinks and appetizers from 4-6 & it was a great place to settle in!
Two Ten Jack: This. Was. Amazing. This ramen spot is in Nashville & Chatt, but this was our first time going! I got the vegetarian ramen and it was so good. ALSO – if you’re extra hungry, make sure to grab the spicy edamame. These were delicious & perfect to split for the table.
State of Confusion: Our first night in Chattanooga was the Bachelor finale, so we had to find a place to watch! State of Confusion was airing the finale & had a special Bachelor-themed menu + decorations. SO cute.
Rembrandt’s Coffee House: We grabbed homemade bread, delicious pastries, and coffee from this cute little spot! I highly recommend if you’re looking for something to do for an hour or so.
Taco Mamacita: These were some of the yummiest tacos. I ordered the Taco Royale (roasted chicken & yummy toppings) and the Caribbean jerk. Also, on Tuesdays their margaritas are BOGO… and we love a good deal!
What to Do
Walk around the Bluff Arts District. This arts district is near the river and the art museum and is a super cute place to stroll with your friends. It’s also home to some yummy food (Rembrandt’s is here!).
Check out the campus of University of Tennessee at Chattanooga. After we found out that Auburn’s campus was closing, we were all in a state of shock and confusion. We decided we needed to get out of the house without going “out”. I always love walking around different campuses!
Karaoke at the Bicycle Bar. This was the most fun & unexpected night! We sang karaoke at the Bicycle Bar, a bicycle co-op-turned-bar-at-night and had the best time singing and talking to the tightknit group of people that go every Wednesday.
Take the ChattyWagon! I am just waiting for this service to come to Birmingham! You can get a free ride in the ChattyWagon in downtown Chattanooga. We had the same driver each time and we loved her.
Where to Take Photos
You already know that taking Instagram photos is one of my favorite things & I think it’s so fun to share fun little photo spots and murals!
Julie Darling Doughnuts: Who doesn’t love a pink wall AND a donut shop? I had seen this place while browsing on Instagram, but we actually happened to stumble upon it while we were walking around the North Side.
Walnut Street Bridge: This is such a cool bridge that overlooks the Tennessee River. It’s a fun view and super cute for photos!
Clumpie’s Ice Cream: Greer and I had seen this mural style in Nashville, so when we saw this mural in an ice cream shop, we had to stop! I’m not a huge ice cream fan (I know, I know), so I got their Irish Cream hot chocolate. It was SO good!
On our last day in Chattanooga, we found out that we’d never have a class on Auburn’s campus again. I’m still in a state of shock honestly, but I’m grateful that I was surrounded by people I love in such a confusing time. On that night, we ordered takeout and watched Love is Blind, and even though we were upset, I’m glad we did it together.
