I go through phases of minor obsessions all the time. If I start liking a new recipe, I’m going to eat it every day for two weeks & then not again for two months. I’ve tried to finish The Vampire Diaries four times, but every time I get past four seasons, I’m tired of it & give up until the next time I want to watch. However, I’m still living in one phase: I want to be Elle Woods. Everything about Elle Woods is something I aspire to! Her kindness, her ambition, and obviously, her fashion. I own (and love) a pink blazer, but recently I’ve been loving a more “lowkey” take on her style. Enter: the Elle Woods Off Duty look. Combining a blazer & jean shorts creates an effortless, unique style that feels like something Elle herself would wear to grab brunch with her friends on a Saturday.
Throughout this weird time of social distancing, I’ve been finding myself looking forward to planning outfits—even if I won’t wear them too soon! I’ve been styling pieces I already own in different ways to create new vibes. This combination of a blazer and jean shorts is going to be a go-to for me in the fall when I (hopefully) am writing in coffee shops. Plus, the “business up top, casual on the bottom” combo is perfect for Zoom meetings. This blazer from Express is sold out, but here’s a similar option. Express blazers are pretty expensive but great quality, but I’ve also had good luck shopping for blazers in the men’s section of thrift stores!
Within the span of one year, my closet went from zero to three blazers… you see what I mean about obsessions? I absolutely love how I feel when I wear a blazer. Basically, like I’m leaving a meeting naming me the editor-in-chief of a national magazine. A girl can dream, right?!
For my first two years at Auburn University, I wore the “uniform”… aka an oversized tee and Nike shorts. When I started my junior year, I decided I would dress up a bit more for class. Choosing to wear clothing I love makes me feel so confident and happy. I think that’s one of my favorite parts of being a fashion blogger. As cliche as it sounds, when we decide what to wear in the morning, we can decide who we want to be that day. As it turns out, most days I want to be Elle Woods.
