Today I turn 25, and while I’m already an optimistic person by default, I’m feeling more excitement for the future than ever before. Throughout middle school and high school, I always looked towards the future with hope for a day I’d be on my own, with a job where I can write all day, surrounded by a boyfriend and an amazing friend group I love. And I have that now!
I am truly so grateful for everything in my life, and birthdays are the perfect reminder for me to look around and realize exactly how lucky I am.
Yesterday, when I went to meet Jess for our weekly coffee date, she surprised me at June with a surprise birthday party complete with friends, a birthday banner and a pastry. I’ve truly never felt so loved in my life—how many friends would surprise you at 7AM?!
25 feels solid—like I’m firmly planted in my twenties and who I am, but with enough wiggle room to grow and change. I feel really lucky to be in a place where I look around at who I am and what I’ve done and can be proud of that person all while I see the improvements and changes I’d like to make in my life. We’ll start with wasting less time scrolling on TikTok and take it from there.
It isn’t easy, but I’ve found that finding joy and happiness with the person you are right now is the only way to find joy in each day—and the only way to really make changes that you’re proud of. I feel so much more whole when I’m making changes driven by self-love rather than annoyance or frustration.
Thanks for being here — whether you’ve been following along for seven years or you just stumbled upon this post today.
Cheers to another year of life and documenting it all!
