I’ve been slowly curating the details of my apartment for the past few years living in downtown Birmingham—and, besides the clutter I’m always trying to stay on top of, it’s the perfect haven. The first thing people notice when they come into my apartment is the pink couch. This pink couch is my pride and joy, and I plan to incorporate it into every future apartment and home. It’s a find from Wayfair, and I’ve loved it for the past two and a half years. It’s a futon but is pretty firm—I’ve definitely taken a few naps on it, but it isn’t a couch you’d sink into.

When I think of my favorite apartments and homes, they feel like museums with galleries dedicated to a person’s life and experience. That’s how I try to build my apartment, with gallery walls that are full of postcards from trips and art from thrift stores. I couldn’t link everything, but I have a few artists I recommend:
- Paris Woodhull, a Knoxville-based artist with cheeky, colorful prints
- Jessica Broom, a friend of mine who does fun tablescape + food paintings
- Greer Miceli, another friend who does gorgeous paintings + prints

If you’re hoping to add art to your home but you’re overwhelmed at the prospect of filling walls, don’t feel like you have to decorate everything in one go. I’ve been living in my apartment for a few years and I still find new pieces and new ways to decorate every time I go on a trip or hit a thrift store.

I’ve kept my bedroom fairly simple over the years. On one wall, I have a gallery wall featuring a few framed photos of me and Nathan. I keep adding new pieces to this wall and love seeing it come to life when the sun hits it every morning! Everything in my bedroom is light and bright and as peaceful as possible, with light pink bedding and a few fun colorful accents. I love to keep eucalyptus throughout my colorful apartment to keep things fresh and vibrant.
I absolutely love my fun, colorful apartment and love how happy it makes me with all the details! There’s nothing like building a place you love and getting to come home to it every night.
